A devotion on Psalm 16 Psalm 16 is a good place to sit when your heart feels restless, disappointed or anxious. When our feelings are shouting loudly and our anxious thoughts circle back again and again to the troubles that assail us, this Psalm helps us to interrupt our thoughts and take them captive to...

Saints in Christ: Righteous, Redeemed, Reconciled
Do you know who you are in Christ? What gives your life meaning, purpose and direction? The world’s belief system says that our feelings, experience, and desires determine our identity. These are moving targets bound to leave us feeling confused, unstable and discouraged. But as a redeemed child of God, our position in Christ is...
The Right and Wrong of Boasting
Paul taught the Corinthians to boast—not in themselves, but in their relationship with Jesus and His work in the gospel (1 Corinthians 1:31). True boasting should be about God’s glory and what He has done, rather than drawing attention to ourselves. It is God’s approval that is the ultimate measure of our worth (2 Corinthians 10:17-18). So, Paul chose to boast in his own weakness (2 Corinthians 11:30–33), that the power and grace of God might shine more clearly in his life.

Flourish
By Rosie Moore. There is a direct correlation between our engagement with the Bible and whether we flourish as Christians. Psalm 1 teaches that a flourishing Christian life is rooted in God’s Word. Delighting in and meditating on Scripture is essential to spiritual health. Like a tree planted by streams of water, we must draw from...
Why our view of Christ matters.
An emasculated Jesus is just part of creation, not Lord over it! He is not the Jesus of the Bible, who laid the foundation of the earth from the beginning and will roll it up like a garment (Heb 1:10-12). This weak Jesus is not the faithful protector of His people, the reconciler who brings peace and assures the ultimate overthrow of defeated powers of evil and darkness. Our view of Christ matters!
How many mothers-in-law does it take to change a light bulb?
So how do we handle in-law problems after we’re married? A starting point is to hold in tension two God-given principles: The first is to separate from parents (leave and cleave) and the second is to honour our parents. It’s not a question of either… or, but both… and. As a mother-in-law and a counsellor, I know that a critical and controlling spirit is a lethal combination which can wreck family relationships.
